BeachesI have been on a much needed vacation to Florida. I grew up in Florida, and as a teenager, it probably was not my favorite place. Now that I am older I can appreciate it a bit more. This is a picture of the beach that I have posted before, but it is still one of my favorites. It is of my "home" beach and the pier in Lake Worth, Florida. Though I am a redhead and fair skinned, I spent many weekends at the beach soaking up the sun. I hope I don't pay for it now. This trip my husband and I took a walk along the pier. We walked to the end where there were fisherman, and we looked down in the water and there were two sharks hanging around. I have never seen a shark in the water (except exhibits). I'd always wanted to see a shark in the water, yet not be in the water with it. Unfortunately I did not get any pictures. I hope that this picture gives you peace as you look at it. I know it does me.
Butterflies - Frederick Meijer Gardens in Grand RapidsEvery year in the spring, Frederick Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids has a butterfly exhibit. I haven't been since 2019 but have plans to go in a few weeks. This is a butterfly that looks completely different with its wings open. When they open they are a beautiful shade of blue. When they are closed, as this picture, they blend in really well with their background. They are called a blue morpho and live in South America. Apparently they only live 115 days. I don't really know much more than that. However the butterfly exhibit to me means Spring! And we are patiently waiting for the flowers to come up and the temperatures to stay warmer. Hope you see butterflies during your spring and summer wherever you are.
Summer FlowersThough it is not summer yet, I was looking through my photos and found some from the summer of 2017. That year I must've had more time and energy. My flowers turned out really well, and oh so pretty. This photo is of flowers next to our A/C. Not the most photogenic place, but the flowers around the A/C flourished. I've planted zinnias and dahlias in this area. This year I have tickweed (perennial) but hope to have room for more zinnias and dahlias.
Snow in West MichiganIt has been snowing here since last Thursday. The Thursday before that it was sunny and 72 here. Yikes. That was fast. Though it is November in Michigan. However, we got 26 inches of snow in three days... from last Thursday to Saturday. The last time we got that much snow was in 2013. That winter we got so much snow we ran out of places to put it after it was plowed. Today the sun came back out and it got up to 40. So the snow started to melt. I think it may all be gone by the end of the weekend, because it is supposed to be warm (40s) for Thanksgiving. Anyways... here is a pic of our deck before it melted. Kind of cool. Stay warm! Happy Thanksgiving!
Mighty Mac in MichiganI haven't written in awhile. I haven't even taken pictures in awhile. It's been a busy and stressful year, but things have turned out well. I am very thankful that the year has turned out well. My husband and I took a weekend trip up north to Mackinac Island in early September. We stayed at a hotel in Mackinaw City. We went to St. Ignace a few times, so drove across the Mackinac Bridge, or Mighty Mac as they call it. Here is a picture of it all lit up at night!
